Zesty lemons, honeysuckle, and orange rind shine on the nose and on the fresh, lusty palate. Drink from 2022-2032. 2,130 Views Tasted Oct 9, 2022 |
2016
Marc Sorrel Le Gréal (Hermitage)
Full-bodied, tannic, tight, deep, dark, and packed with smoky red currants, peppery blackberries, and green olives. Firm and reserved at the moment, this will need a few more years before it truly shines. Drink from 2025-2045. 2,748 Views Tasted Aug 16, 2022 |
2015
Marc Sorrel Le Gréal (Hermitage)
Wow, this is inky in color, with just as much depth in flavor to match. The nose shows crushed rocks, smoke and dark, black fruits. On the palate, the wine is incredibly full-bodied, rich and intense, with a hint of saltiness to the tannins. Even with all this power, the wine is balanced, fresh and refined. The best since 2003, and it is probably even better. It will age for decades effortlessly. 5,757 Views Tasted Feb 11, 2019 |
2014
Marc Sorrel Le Gréal (Hermitage)
Bright, fresh, lifted, crisp, red fruits, smoke, licorice and blackberries are all over the place. Medium/full-bodied, youthful, vigorous, and with a good future, give it at least a decade in the cellar before pulling a cork. 2,765 Views Tasted Aug 3, 2020 |
2012
Marc Sorrel Le Gréal (Hermitage)
Frightfully young, concentrated, full-bodied, tannic, fresh and holding on to its youthful, classic bent, the wine requires at least another decade in the cellar before all the grilled, smoked meat, beef blood, crushed rock and dark red fruits become civilized. This is a very strong wine, but patience is needed here. 3,644 Views Tasted Oct 1, 2018 |
2010
Marc Sorrel Le Gréal (Hermitage)
Just a super wine, inky, dark in color, the wine meshes a mountain of tannin with a wave of earthy, stony, crisp, ripe, juicy fruit. Here, the tannins are ripe, but they strong, so you need to wait on this baby for at least 8-10 years. 3,407 Views Tasted Oct 1, 2018 |

Marc Sorrel Blanc (Hermitage)
White peach citrus rind, honeysuckle and crisp apple notes are combined with an oily, slightly honeyed, buttery, yellow and orange citrus character. 1,475 Views Tasted May 16, 2017 |
2009
Marc Sorrel Le Gréal (Hermitage)
Full bodied, intense, powerful, robust and refined, it's easy to find all the ripe, fresh, juicy blackberry, hints of blue fruit, smoke and licorice, with elements of crushed rocks. Long and expansive, another 5-10 more years will have this beauty singing. 2,867 Views Tasted Mar 15, 2018 |
2007
Marc Sorrel (Hermitage)
Light for an Hermitage wine, made from 100% Syrah, this is surprisingly forward, and open at just 10 years of age, allowing the soft, smoky, fresh cherry, earth, olive and earthy characteristics to come through. The wine has lift, but not a lot of depth. 2,739 Views Tasted Feb 23, 2017 |
2003
Marc Sorrel Le Gréal (Hermitage)
Round, lush, fat, dense, deeply colored, packed with rocks, ripe fruit, licorice, tannins and ABV. A wine of pleasure that will be better in a few years. 3,995 Views Tasted Jan 17, 2015 |
1990
Marc Sorrel Le Gréal (Hermitage)
Shockingly young, in its dark color, and on the palate, which remains stuffed with ripe, dark fruits, tannins and energy. The wine gets going from the moment you sniff the peppery, dark red fruits, spice and earthy characteristics. The finish is long, fresh and loaded with peppery, vibrant fruits. This is good to go now, and should remain at this high level for at least 10-20 years. FWIW, I have had issues with bad bottles of the 1989, but at least this bottle of 1990 was clean. 2,896 Views Tasted Oct 8, 2018 |
