Haut Batailley is a true family affair. In fact, it’s been that way for most the 20th century. Today, the traditional Pauillac estate is managed by François-Xavier Borie and his daughter, Emeline.
Grand Village, owned by Jacques and Sylvia Guinaudau, practices many of the same techniques used at their famous Pomerol estate, Chateau Lafleur. In fact, The Guinaudau’s refer to Grand Village as “Lafleur’s second vineyard”.
Leoville Barton is the only Second Growth Bordeaux wine producer without their own chateau. The wines are made at their sister property, Château Langoa-Barton.
Starting with the 2000 vintage, La Vieille Cure has been a contender for the Bordeaux wine value in the region. 2005 remains the best vintage yet for this estate.
Starting with the 2006 vintage, with the help of Stephane Derenoncourt, this property started making good Bordeaux wine and selling it at prices everyone can afford making them one of the best value wine producers in Bordeaux.
Aline Baly is well-known for her more than her efforts at promoting Chateau Coutet and the sweet, white wines of Bordeaux. She is a talented chef who delights in creating wine and food pairings for Bordeaux’s sweet wines.
Vieux Chateau Certan produced a contender for the best Pomerol as well as one of the top Bordeaux wines in 2009. Having tasted it multiple times, 2010 Bordeaux wine is even better!
