2019 Chateauneuf du Pape is the best vintage since 2016. The wines are just great. Forward in style, with concentration, vibrancy, purity, length, and balance, they are about to hit the stores. Grenache and Chateauneuf du Pape lovers should be all over these wines!
2020 sweet Bordeaux has what you’re looking for. The wines combine gorgeous aromatics, sweetness, opulent, creamy textures, and racy acidity making these fabulous sweet treats. But production was down with some estates making 50% less wine than usual.
2018 Sweet Bordeaux is the product of a challenging year. Sauternes and Barsac did produce some nice, mid-weight, sweet wines that can drink well young, and age, if you know where to look.
2020 is a good vintage for white Bordeaux. Not only from Pessac Leognan, but the whites from the Medoc are quite strong. The wines are aromatic, creamy, fresh, ripe, and sweet, with good acidities.
Located next to Pomerol, Lalande de Pomerol shares terroir resembling Pomerol and in 2020, the vintage allowed several of these vineyards to produce some of the best wines in the history of their estates.
Bordeaux AOC wines are the textbook example of wines of pleasure. They drink well early, are inexpensive easy to enjoy. In 2020, if you know where to look, they can offer value and fun drinking.
