All of the following St. Emilion Satellite appellations wines were sampled in Bordeaux in April. Most of the wines were tasted at Negociants, Consultants or with various wine trade groups.

2022 Baudon Les Terres Blanches – Montagne-St. Émilion – Deeply colored, the wine is equally dark in its character with its layers of black plums, chocolate, espresso, and cinnamon. Rich, lush, round, fresh, and fruity, the wine has a lot of character on the mid-palate that keeps on going through to the finish. Produced from 100% Merlot, a portion of the grapes are whole bunch vinified. Drink from 2025-2038. 91-93 Pts
2022 Cap St. George – St. Georges-St. Émilion – Flowers, cinnamon, and plums form the core of the wine. On the palate, the wine is plush, soft, and fresh, with sweetness and energy on the mid-palate, and in the finish. The wine is produced from blending 84% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. 13.9% ABV. 3.55 pH. 2022 Cap d’Or – St. Georges-St. Émilion – Smoke, licorice, black cherries, and graphite, the wine is medium-bodied, round, and fruity with a plummy finish. Already approachable, this is going to drink well in its youth. The wine blends 84% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2025-2032. 90-92 Pts.
2022 Clarisse – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – Espresso, flowers, and cherries with a bit of oak on the medium-bodied, soft, round, fruit-filled, sweet, ripe, fresh palate that needs to integrate. Drink from 2025-2032. 89-91 Pts
2022 Clarisse Vieilles Vignes – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – Sweet black plums, black cherries, chocolate, espresso, and licorice on the nose, are also found on the fresh, forward, chalky palate. Drink from 2025-2034. 91-93 Pts
2022 Clos Bertineau Merlot – Montagne-St. Émilion – All the ripe, sweet, dark plums, and cherries are covered with deep chocolate and licorice nuances. The wine is round, lush, polished, and ready for pleasure on release. The wine is made from 100% Merlot. Drink from 2025-2034. 89-91 Pts
2022 Clos de Bouard – Montagne-St. Émilion – Flowers, cherries, espresso, and licorice form the core of this wine. Medium-bodied, soft, round, fresh, and sweet, with a refreshing, mint-leaf accent in the finish, this is going to be easy to enjoy on release. The medium-bodied wine is soft, balanced, fresh, and plummy, with a creamy, polished fruity mid-palate, and finish. he wine is produced from a parcel selection of 100% Merlot. 2022 Simon Blanchard Guitard – Montagne-St. Émilion – Deeply colored, initially you notice the flowers before moving to the smoke, espresso, vanilla, and cocoa-infused plums. 2022 Vieux-Chateau-Palon – Montagne-St. Émilion – Flowers and leafy herbs combine with sweet, ripe, red and black pit fruits to produce an elegant, soft, polished, medium-bodied, supple wine with sweetness, freshness, and good energy in the spice, accented, fruity finish.
