Thierry Manoncourt Chateau Figeac passed away Friday, August 27 at his beloved Chateau Figeac, located in St. Emilion Bordeaux. One of the last of the old guard, he was only a few days shy of his 93rd birthday.
Born in the Paris, he began managing Chateau Figeac in 1946 and set about producing the finest Bordeaux wine possible. The wines produced at the estate in the 50’s and 60’s are highly sought by top collectors today. The property had been in his family since 1892. Manoncourt was one of the founders of the Bordeaux Grand Crus Union. He was president of the Jurade of St. Emilion from 1964 to 1987. Chateau Figeac is currently managed by his daughter Laure along with her husband Eric d’Aramont. Funeral services are set for Monday, August 30, in Saint Émilion.
