2019 is a fabulous vintage for bargain hunters! You can see from my tasting notes and scores below just how fabulous many of these wines are. And not only will they drink well earlier than most of the big names, but many of these wines will also be even better with a few years of age. And at their best, they can evolve and develop for 10, 15, or in a few cases, up to 20 years! Plus, most of the time, all of these wines sell for a song.

2019 Arnauld – Haut-Médoc – Tobacco leaf, savory herbs and red currants with a dash of chocolate provide the nose, while you find more of those, sweet, juicy red fruits on the palate. Round, soft, fresh and fruity, the finish leaves you loads of easy to like red fruits with a touch of dust in the endnote. Drink from 2023-2033. 90 Pts
2019 d’Arcins – Haut-Médoc – Medium-bodied, with nuances of tobacco, leafy herbs, cedar, cigar box and smoked currants crowd into the nose. Short, soft and sweet with a nice currant-filled finish, this is perfect for near-term drinking. Drink from 2022-2032. 89 Pts
2019 Barreyres – Haut-Médoc – Flowers, espresso and chocolate dusted kirsch notes pop with ease on the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, soft, sweet and fresh with sweet notes of silky-textured cherries, earth and spice on the backend. You can enjoy this well-priced gem on release. 2019 Beaumont – Haut-Médoc – Clearly the best vintage of Chateau Beaumont ever produced, the wine exudes sweet, ripe, red pit fruits with touches of chocolate and espresso. Soft, round, sweet, and polished, the ripe red fruits enjoy lingering on your palate. Forward in style, so you can enjoy it early in its youth, yet still, age it a bit for more complexity. 2019 Belgrave – Haut-Médoc – Flowers, tobacco leaf, plums, smoke, espresso, and cassis create the complex aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is fresh, crisp, juicy and loaded with sweet, black and red berries with a spicy kick and a touch of coffee bean in the round, supple-textured finish. 2019 Belle-Vue – Haut-Médoc – Already expressive with notes of flowers, savory herbs. cedar, dark red fruits and tobacco leaf. The wine is medium-bodied, soft, fresh and polished with a round, fruit-packed finish. Belle-Vue (Haut-Médoc) is one of the few Bordeaux produced using 5 allowable grape varieties. 2019 Bernadotte – Haut-Médoc – Medium-bodied and already focused on showing off its blackberry and plummy core of fruits with its accents of tobacco leaf and espresso. Soft, round and approachable, this is showing much better in bottle than it did in the barrel. Give it a year or two in the cellar and it should be even better. 2023-2034. 90 Pts
2019 Bibian – Haut-Médoc – Roasted red fruits, vanilla, charcoal and herbs come through on the nose, while sweet, soft, polished red berries show up nicely on the medium-bodied palate and continue all the way through to the finish. Drink from 2022-2031. 89 Pts
2019 Branas-Grand-Poujeaux – Moulis en Médoc – Lusciously textured fruits come through with ease on the palate, along with its layers of savory blackberries, touch of dark cocoa, smoke, thyme and black cherries. The finish is even better due to its layers of soft, polished, ripe dark fruits. Give this a few years of age and it is going to be great for almost 2 decades. Drink from 2024-2039. 93 Pts
2019 Camensac – Haut-Médoc – Medium-bodied, soft, fresh and fruity, with a peppery accent to the sweet, ripe, currants and herbs, with a dab of chocolate in the endnote. You can enjoy this with ease on release and over the next decade or longer. Drink from 2022-2032. 90 Pts
2019 Cantemerle – Haut-Médoc – Quite savory with a bouquet of herbs, wet earth, currants, spice, and cocoa. Medium-bodied, soft, fresh, earthy, forward and earthy, give it a few years in the cellar before pulling the cork. Drink from 2024-2037. 92 Pts
2019 Cap Leon Veyrin – Listrac-Médoc – Medium-bodied, light-weight, forward, early-drinking wine with a core of sweet and tart currants, earth, cedar and tobacco. This will be best in its youth. Drink from 2022-2028. 86 Pts
2019 Caroline – Moulis en Médoc – Wet earth, smoke, espresso, cedar, cigar box and red fruits show easily on the palate. The wine is medium-bodied, forward, bright and chewy, with a red currant and savory herb, earthy, oak and olive tinged finish. Drink from 2023-2030. 87 Pts
2019 Caronne Ste. Gemme – Haut-Médoc – Opening with espresso, smoke, cocoa and red pit fruits, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, vibrant and crisp, with an elevated note of savory herbs, espresso, olives and spice on the palate and in the finish. Cigar wrapper and red fruits combine on nose and palate with a good blast of tobacco-infused red fruits and a hint of chocolate in the medium-bodied, fruity, savory finish. 2019 Cartillon – Haut-Médoc – Round, and polished with a soft, ripe, easy to like medium-bodied, fruit-packed mid-palate and finish. Forward and already quite easy to like, you can enjoy this on release with ease. Drink from 2023-2037. 91 Pts
2019 Charmail – Haut-Médoc – The touch of spice adds a lot to the soft, polished, vibrant, sweet red fruits. The finish, with all of its black cherries, coffee bean and currants is already shaping up nicely. This is one of the better values for Cabernet Sauvignon dominated, Bordeaux blends. 2019 Chasse Spleen – Moulis en Médoc – Showing much better in the bottle after the aging process, the medium-bodied, soft, fresh wine is focused on its core of ripe, sweet, currants, tobacco and spice. Not very weighty, but it makes up for that with its elegance and finesse. Drink from 2024-2037. 90 Pts
2019 Chemin Royal – Moulis en Médoc – Fresh, bright, energetic red fruits with a citrus accent and floral aromatics shape the wine. Medium-bodied, vibrant, soft and lifted, the wine leaves you with note of cherries and orange rind. You can enjoy this on release, or age it for a few years. Drink from 2023-2032. 90 Pts
2019 Citran – Haut-Médoc – The finest vintage of Citran I have ever tasted pops with chocolate-covered cherries, flowers, raspberries and herbs. Medium bodied, soft, polished, fresh and fruity, the wine finishes with sweet, red fruits with a touch of kirsch and cocoa in the endnote. Drink from 2023-2034. 90 Pts
2019 Clarke – Listrac-Médoc – Fresh, bright, soft and savory, with a tangy, crisp, red pit fruit-focused, medium-bodied palate and a tangy finish. The wine is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and will be best in its fruit-forward, exuberant youth. Drink from 2022-2032. 89 Pts
2019 Clement Pichon – Haut-Médoc – Tobacco leaf, cedar, earth, herbs and savory red fruits with a hint of smoke and cocoa are on the nose and palate. A bit reserved at the moment, it will take a year or two to open. Drink from 2023-2033. 89 Pts
2019 Coufran – Haut-Médoc – Clearly things are on a roll here at Coufran, as this competes for the finest wine ever produced at the property. Medium-bodied, with flowers, herbs, spice, cocoa and red fruits show up easily in the nose and on the earthy, plummy, round, polished palate, leaving you with a bit of espresso, cocoa and plums in the finish. 2019 Dutruch Grand Poujeaux – Moulis en Médoc – Blackberries, herbs, wet earth, tobacco and cassis nuances show up easily on the nose. The wine is soft, fresh, juicy, sweet and loaded with ripe, lifted red fruits with a touch of spice on the palate and in the finish. Give it a year or so in the cellar and this should be just great for savvy consumers to enjoy for 12 or more years with ease. This is a well-priced gem. Drink from 2023-2034. 91 Pts
2019 Fonreaud – Listrac-Médoc – Medium-bodied, floral, herb accents red fruits come up easily on the nose and palate. The wine is soft, fresh and crisp, with a hint of citrus in the crisp, red berry finish. Drink from 2022-2032. 89 Pts
2019 Fourcas-Dupre – Listrac-Médoc – This superb value wine is really showing well. The fresh, fleshy wine is packed with sweet, ripe cassis, bright, crisp plums and black cherries. 2019 Fourcas Hosten – Listrac-Médoc – Creme de cassis cedar and espresso with a hint of bay leaf hits your nose. On the palate, the wine is bright, fresh, and crisp with plenty of peppery red currants on the mid-palate and in the chewy, savory fruit-filled finish. 2019 Gironville – Haut-Médoc – Espresso, smoke, chocolate, raspberries and flowers create the nose. On the palate, the wine is soft, polished, fruity and should be just great to enjoy with only a year or two in the cellar. 92 Pts
2019 Giscours Haut-Medoc – Haut-Médoc – Medium-bodied, forward, soft and already easy drinking, this dark cherry and savory plum oriented wine will be at its best to enjoy in its first decade of life. 87 Pts
2019 Gravilles Renaissance – Haut-Médoc – Smoke, espresso, black currants, cedar and spice box aromas chop in to form the perfume. On the palate, the medium-bodied, silky-textured wine is sweet fresh, vibrant and refined. Not dense, but the wine makes up for that with its elegant nature. Drink from 2022-2031. 90 Pts
2019 La Fon du Berger – Haut-Médoc – Flowers and herbs along with red fruits are found in the core of this soft-textured, early-drinking wine that is best for consuming in its youth before the fruit fades. Drink from 2022-2027. 86 Pts
2019 La Lagune – Haut-Médoc – Roses and lilacs, along with sweet, ripe cherries show up in the perfume. Medium-bodied, soft, silky, fresh, and focused on its purity and refined nature, the wine is effortless to drink, finishing with layers of polished red fruits, touches of cocoa, and just a touch of spice and savory herbs. Here you find a full-bodied wine with polished tannins and layers of round-textured fruits giving way to a supple finish packed with fruit and a touch of oak. 2019 Lamarque – Haut-Médoc – Espresso, cassis, blackberries and floral notes create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is soft, round and vibrant with a juicy core of fresh red berries that finishes with a touch of peppery spice on the backend for a nice addition to the finish. 2019 Madame de Beaucaillou – Haut-Médoc – The debut vintage for this new wine from Bruno Borie is just as good in the bottle as it was in the barrel. Medium-bodied, forward, floral, and fruity, the wine is already quite easy to enjoy and a lot of fun to drink. With all of its fresh red currants and touches of leafy herbs, the soft, red berry finish is just right for uncomplicated, pleasurable drinking. 2019 Poujeaux – Moulis en Médoc – Espresso, black pepper, chocolate-covered blackberries and currants work together to create the perfume. The wine is plush, polished, rich and supple with a blast of ripe, sweet, chewy fruits, espresso, and dark chocolate in the endnote. Give it a few years to soften and fill out and it is going to deliver the goods for up to 2 decades after that. The wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
