The following 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape wines were all tasted in my home office in non-blind tasting conditions.

2019 LAbbe Dine – Cherries with a touch of spice are on the nose and palate of this earthy, medium-bodied, forward, lusciously textured, early-drinking charmer. The wine is made from 90% Grenache, 8% Mourvedre, and 2% Syrah. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 91 Pts

2019 LAbbe Dine Blanc – On the orange side of the style range with all its tangerine, mango, and orange rind accents on the nose. On the palate, the wine is bright, fresh, citrusy, and lush, forward in style, with a white peach and citrus finish, you can enjoy this on release. Drink From 2022 – 2028 .90 Pts

2019 LAbbe Dine La Reserve des Cieux – Soft, supple, fresh, and pure, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, refined, and vibrant with a gorgeous, peppery tinged, red cherry finish. The delicious wine will be ready just about on release. The wine is always produced using 100% old vine Grenache. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 92 Pts

2019 LHarmas – Medium-bodied, forward, and loaded with sweet, round, ripe, dark red fruits with a peppery, olive-tinged edge, you can enjoy this on release and over the following decade with ease. Drink From 2022 – 2032. 89 Pts

2019 La Barroche – Roses, dark cherries, kirsch, and black raspberries with a myriad of herbs create the nose. On the palate. the wine is round, soft, sweet, polished, and fresh with an elegant, silky-textured, peppery finish. There is good length and purity here. Drink From 2023 – 2038. 93 Pts

2019 La Barroche Cuvee Pure – This is mind-blowing from the initial sniff and sip and it only gets better from there with its endless waves of black and red cherries, kirsch, black raspberries, thyme, flowers, herbs, and spices. As good as that is, it is the elegant, silky, refined, purity of fruit on the palate that steals the show! The wine is elegantly styled with refined, yet supple textures and a sweet and spicy, kirsch finish. This wine is made from 100% Grenache, hence the name Pure. Drink From 2025 – 2040. 99 Pts

2019 La Bastide Saint-Dominique Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Garrigue, savory red fruits, and spice come alive with little effort. Here, you find a medium-bodied, elegant, soft, fruit-filled, expression of Grenache. There is a lushness to the fruits that feels just great on your palate. This is already so easy to drink, I snuck in a taste or two writing this note. The Mourvedre in the blend adds a lot to the wine. Drink From 2023 – 2035. 93 Pts

2019 La Bastide Saint-Dominique Les Hesperides – Dark, meaty, peppery, and intense, along with all the black cherries, kirsch, licorice, and peppery herbs, you find a concentrated, rich, full wine with depth and a polished, spicy, red berry filled finish. The wine was made from a blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Mourvedre. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 95 Pts

2019 La Bastide Saint-Dominique Les Secrets de Pignan – Full-bodied, rich, lush, ripe, and fresh, the wine, produced from close to 100% old vine Grenache is loaded with flowers, black and red cherries, herbs, spice, hints of thyme and pepper. Fresh, energetic, long and concentrated, I love the sense of purity to the fruit on the palate and in the lengthy finish. Drink From 2024 – 2037. 97 Pts

2019 La Bastide Saint-Dominique Blanc – Produced from a blend of 34% Grenache Blanc, 33% Clairette, and 33% Roussanne, the wine is spicy, fresh, silky, and vibrant with a lush core of white peaches, citrus, and flowers. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 93 Pts

2019 La Bastide Saint-Dominique Blanc Chapelle – Produced from 100% Clairette, the wine is spicy, fresh, lush, and packed with citrus, flowers, and white peaches. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 92 Pts

2019 La Fagotiere – Medium-bodied, elegant, soft, fresh, and forward, this already open, charming, spicy, red berry filled wine finishes with a nice touch of peppery green olives and cherries on the palate and in the endnotes. You can enjoy this on release. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 89 Pts

2019 La Ferme du Mont Cotes Capelan – Deeply colored, the wine explodes with black raspberry, fresh herbs, iron, dark cherries, and strawberry jam. Rich, concentrated, long, powerful and yet balanced, fresh and character-driven, give this gem a few years in the cellar and it is going to be off the hook! Drink From 2025 – 2038. 95 Pts

2019 La Ferme du Mont Vendanges – Spicy, dark red berries, with green leaf, herbs and smoked black pepper are what you find in the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, earthy, fresh, bright and crisp, with a peppery, kirsch-filled finish. You can enjoy this with just a year or two, or three, of age. The wine is made from blending 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. Drink From 2022 – 2034. 92 Pts

2019 La Genestiere – After the initial espresso and smoky note on the nose you find licorice, peppery spice, dark cherries and red plums. Lush, ripe, fruit-filled and fresh, the finish exudes a myriad of red pit fruits, berries and spice. The wine in an interesting blend produced from blending 49% Syrah, 36% Grenache, 7% Mourvedre and assorted other varieties. Drink From 2023 – 2033. 90 Pts

2019 La Genestiere Blanc – Forward, lighter-styled, fresh, floral, lemon, lime, and green apple-filled charmer with a perky, yellow citrus-filled, mid-palate and finish. This will be ready to go on release. Drink From 2022 – 2026. 89 Pts

2019 La Grangette des Papes – Fresh, bright, earthy, rich, lush, and complex, the wine struts its dark kirsch, black cherry, licorice, and savory essences with ease. I really like the depth of flavor and richness here. This is my first time tasting this beauty, I look forward to tasting it in subsequent vintages from now on. Drink From 2022 – 2035. 93 Pts

2019 La Nerthe Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Sweet cherries, barbecue smoke, licorice, flowers, plums, cherries, and mesquite get together to create the nose. On the palate, the wine is lush, round, fruit-filled, and silky, there is volume, length, and a soft, polished finish. Give it a few years in the cellar and it will be a better wine. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 92 Pts

2019 La Nerthe Cuvee des Cadettes – Plush, lush, ripe, silky, and rich, the wine is loaded with layers of lusciously textured, dark red berries, licorice, smoke, and earth. There is volume, length, and a finish that keeps on coming with its waves of fruits. This is going to age and evolve quite nicely. Give it a few years to develop and it is going to be even better. Drink From 2024 – 2038. 95 Pts

2019 La Nerthe Blanc – Flowers, apricots, spice and yellow citrus aromas open up the wine. On the palate, the wine is fresh, crisp and juicy with a tropical leaning and hints of vanilla with white peach in the fruit-packed finish. Drink From 2022 – 2031. 92 Pts

2019 La Nerthe Blanc Clos de Beauvenir – The reticent nose requires coaxing before you find all the honeysuckle, orange peel, banana, white peach and citrus notes. Fresh, lush, rich and balanced between sweet and crisp, with a tint of roasted nuts in the endnote, this is great now, and it should be even better with a year or two of cellaring. Drink From 2023 – 2029 93 Pts

2019 La Sousto Lucien Gabriel Barrot – Spring flowers, bright red fruits and hints of citrus rind come alive on the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, bright, sweet and shows off its vivid red berries with ease in the soft, polished, spicy, crisp finish. The wine blends 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 8% Mourvedre, 1% Cinsault and 1% Vaccarese. Drink From 2023 – 2036. 90 Pts

2019 La Sousto Blanc – Medium-bodied, lighter-styled, early-drinking fruit-filled charmer that will be best in its youth. Drink From 2022 – 2028. 89 Pts

2019 Le Clos du Caillou La Reserve – A thrilling wine with incredible density, balance, purity of fruit, length and complexity. The wine blends dark red and bright red fruits, smoked meat, flowers, spice and licorice with peppery herbs. Powerful, yet refined, intense, and elegant, there is a fabulous sense of harmony on the palate and in the finish that makes this a complete tasting experience. Based on older bottles from my cellar, this should age and evolve for 2 decades or more. The wine is produced from a blend of close to 60% old vine Grenache and 40% Mourvedre. This is one of the stars of the vintage. Drink From 2025 – 2045. 99 Pts

2019 Le Clos du Caillou Les Quartz – Dark cherries and kirsch mesh together perfectly here. The wine is further complicated by all the nuances of flowers, peppery herbs, earth and spicy notes. Rich, concentrated, focused and fresh, the kirsch-packed finish hit everything just right. The wine is based on blending 75% old vine Grenache with 25% Syrah. Drink From 2023 – 2037. 96 Pts

2019 Le Clos du Caillou Les Safres – Medium-bodied, spicy, silky, fresh and vibrant, the wine is packed with sweet, ripe, spicy red fruits, herbs and a touch of flowers on the nose and palate. Lushly textured with freshness so you find ample lift, this will be easy to like on release. The wine is made using mostly old vine Grenache, with Mourvedre, Syrah and a small percentage of other assorted varietals. Drink From 2023 – 2036. 95 Pts

2019 Le Jas des Papes Blanc Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Light, fresh and forward with a lemon curd and floral profile, the wine is going to best in its youth. Drink From 2022 – 2026. 88 Pts

2019 Le Jas des Papes Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Medium-bodied, raspberries, strawberries and herbs create the perfume. The wine is soft, forward and fruity, with a kirsch and green herbal finish. You can enjoy this on release. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 89 Pts

2019 Les Cailloux (Lucien et Andre Brunel) Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Elegant, soft, supple and polished, this refined, sweet, spicy, silky, medium-bodied charmer is just great with its layers of pure, kirsch, black raspberry and peppery spices. You can drink this early, or age it for more secondary development. The wine was produced from a blend of mostly Grenache, with Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsault. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 92 Pts

2019 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) Cuvee Centenaire – Wild strawberry and kirsch, with the right touch of garrigue hit the spot on the nose. Elegant, fresh, fruit-filled and soft. the lusciously textured silky wine sits perched between the corners of hot and sultry. The kirsch on the palate shows a fabulous purity of fruit with peppery herbs and green olives in the finish. The wine is made from 100% old vine Grenache from vines that are well over 100 years of age, which gives this good concentration and depth of flavor. Drink From 2025 – 2040. 97 Pts

2019 Lou Frejau – Medium-bodied, bright, sweet and fresh, with a crispness to the red fruits and the tint of green olives on the nose and palate. You can enjoy this on release. The wine is a blend of 50% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 20% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Terret Noir. Drink From 2022 – 2032. 89 Pts

2019 Maison la Berthaude Vieilles Vignes – The olive, garrigue, smoke and spicy kirsch on the nose is the perfect introduction to all of the soft-textured, medium-bodied, fresh, refined, forward styled wine. You should be able to enjoy this almost on release. Drink From 2022 – 2034. 92 Pts

2019 Maison la Berthaude Tradition – Medium-bodied, elegant, lighter styled, forward, red cherry and kirsch-oriented wine that is fully ready to go on release. Drink From 2022 – 2032. 90 Pts

2019 Maison la Berthaude Vignes Centenaires – The flowers and herbs on the nose are captivating. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, silky, refined and pure, with loads of sweet, ripe kirsch on the mid-palate and in the dusty, earthy, vivacious finish. Drink From 2023 – 2033. 92 Pts

2019 Manissy Terres Blanches – Spicy, fruity and fresh, with a strong floral and crushed rock character, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, elegant and vibrant, the finish with its peppered kirsch and stone finish lingers. Chateau de Manissy is better known as one of the top producers of Rose’ in Tavel. Drink From 2023 – 2029. 93 Pts

2019 Maravilhas Espirito – Quite dark in color as you might expect due to its blend, the wine pops with notes of espresso, pepper and dark red berries. Full-bodied, fresh, peppery and bright, the wine is meaty, dense and powerful, as well a tannic so give it a few years before pulling a cork. Espirito is one of the few Chateauneuf du Pape wines made using 100% Syrah. Drink From 2022 – 2034. 90 Pts

2019 Maravilhas Santo – From a blend of Grenache and Syrah, the wine is deeply colored, pepper, sweet, dark red fruits and black raspberry notes create the nose. On the palate, the wine is rich, round and concentrated with a liberal dose of fleshy, spicy, deep, fresh red fruits. The finish is still a bit tannic, so leave it to rest for a few years before pulling a cork. Drink From 2024 – 2035. 90 Pts

2019 Marcoux Chateauneuf du Pape – Deep in color with an earthy floral, spice black raspberry and dark cherry-scented nose. Ripe, round, sweet and lusciously textured, the wine is fresh, balanced and long, with a gorgeous dark cherry, elegantly textured finish. d The wine was made blending 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 7% Syrah and 3% Cinsault. Drink From 2024 – 2034. 93 Pts

2019 Marcoux Vieilles Vignes – Perhaps the most intensely floral wine of the vintage, the wine is pure, polished silk on the palate. Medium-bodied, elegant and refined, the purity in the kirsch, raspberry and cherries is sublime. Everything is working here in all the right ways from start to finish. This should age gracefully for at least 2 decades or longer. The wine is made from 100% old vine Grenache. Drink From 2023 – 2039. 98 Pts

2019 Marcoux Blanc Chateauneuf du Pape – White peach, melon, citrus, white flowers and a touch of smoke shine through on the nose. The wine is round, lush, forward, and open, with a nice sweetness and lift to the fruits in the finish. This can be difficult to find as only 250 cases are produced in an average vintage. The wine blends 70% Roussanne with 30% Bourboulenc and should be ready to drink on release. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 93 Pts

2019 Marquis Anselme Mathieu Blanc – Grilled white peach, honeysuckle, citrus and spice in the nose is easy to find. On the palate, the wine is forward, medium-bodied, sweet and fresh, with a light touch of yellow citrus in the finish. This will be ready to drink on release. Drink From 2022 – 2027. 89 Pts

2019 Mas Grange Blanche la Font de Bessounes – Spicy, peppery red berries with thyme, oregano, and bay leaf is there just to get things going. The palate is medium-bodied, soft and fresh, with layers of silky red fruits. The finish is lifted with a touch of peppery spice in the endnote. This will drink just fine on release. The wine blends Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 92 Pts

2019 Mas de Boislauzon Chateauneuf-du-Pape – The nice depth of color opens to black raspberries, plums, spicy kirsch herbs on the nose. Spicy, meaty and a bit chewy with elements of grilled beef, spice, and peppery, herbal red fruits, the endnote comes along with a nice taste of green olives. This remains one of the best bargains in Chateauneuf du Pape for character and quality today. Drink From 2023 – 2035. 92 Pts

2019 Mas de Boislauzon Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee du Quet – Deep, dark and lusty, this blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre produced a rich, compelling, concentrated wine, filled to the brim with grilled steak, spice, black and red fruits with a liberal dose of just ground pepper. Long, rich, and intensely concentrated, there is a gorgeous purity to the fruits that fill your palate and sticks with you. This should age quite nicely. Drink From 2025 – 2040. 97 Pts

2019 Mas de Boislauzon Chateauneuf-du-Pape Tintot – Almost opaque in color, the wine exudes a complex array of black pepper, herbs, thyme, black, red, and blue fruits. Full-bodied, rich, intense, fleshy and flamboyant on the palate, the wine hits and coats your palate with waves of opulent, deep, dark berries with a seamless finish. With aging, this could score higher as it develops. If you like old vine Mourvedre, this is a very special wine. The wine was made from a blend of 85% old vine Mourvedre and 15% Grenache. Drink From 2027 – 2045. 98 Pts

2019 Mas de Boislauzon Famille Chaussy Selection – Forward, bright, fresh, and vibrant red fruits offer sweet, ripe, red, spicy red berries. This will be just great to enjoy on release with all its kirsch and soft textured, lifted red cherries. The wine blends 60% old vine Grenache with 20% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. Drink from 2022 – 2032 91 Pts

2019 Maucoil Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Meaty and peppery, the fruits show a dark tint on the nose and palate. The wine has a solid depth of flavor, richness and tannins that will take a few years to resolve. I like the power and energy here as well as the length and sauvage quality in the finish. The wine usually blends 60% Grenache with Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. Drink From 2023 – 2035 92 Pts

2019 Maucoil Privilege – Deep, dark meaty berries pop with a single swirl. From there, the wine is floral, fresh and peppery. On the palate, you find lusciously textured black and white cherries, kirsch and black raspberries. The wine is soft and silky, with a solid depth of flavor and length in the finish. There is a minor touch of oak in the endnote which should become fully integrated with a few years in the cellar. There is more than enough fruit to take over all of the wood. The wine was produced using a Grenache dominate blend that includes Syrah, Mourvedre along with other assorted, allowable red and white grape varieties. Drink From 2024 – 2036. 94 Pts

2019 Maucoil l’Esprit de Maucoil – Quite floral in nature, you find loads of ripe, sweet, spicy fruit here with good depth of favor, energy, length and character. The wine was produced using a Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre blend that includes various other allowable grape varieties. Drink From 2023 – 2036. 93 Pts

2019 Maucoil Blanc, Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Ready to go on release, the wine is juicy fresh, sweet and floral, with a hint of peach that comes along with all the ripe citrus in the finish. Drink From 2022 – 2028 . 90 Pts

2019 Mayard Clos du Calvaire – Roses, olives and spice box notes add nuances to all the ripe, red fruits. Earthy, with garrigue and spice. Luscious, soft and silky on the palate, the wine is long, fresh and vibrant on the palate and in the finish. The wine is made from a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and 5% Mourvedre. Drink From 2022 – 2033. 93 Pts

2019 Mayard Domaine du Pere Pape – Medium-bodied, elegant, sweet and fresh, the red berries and pit fruits are soft, refined and silky, leaving with layers of ripe, juicy cherries on the nose and palate. Sweet and silky, with freshness and purity, the wine was made from a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Cinsault and 5% Mourvedre. Drink From 2023 – 2033. 92 Pts

2019 Mayard La Crau de Ma Mère – Luscious, soft, polished sweet cherries wine hints of chocolate and herbs. The wine finishes with elegantly textured red fruits and a nice spicy note on the backend. This should drink well on release. The wine was made using 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. Drink From 2022 – 2034. 93 Pts

2019 Mayard Pere Pape In the Groove – The interesting thing here is that the wine for most intents and purposes is the same as the standard Pere Pape, except that inside one vat, they placed a waterproof speaker allowing the wine to listen to Jazz during its first 45 days of life during the fermentation process. At the end of day, a musically inclined medium-bodied, sweet, fresh, red berry filled wine with a silky finish. Drink From 2023 – 2033. 92 Pts

2019 Mont Redon – Showing a nice depth of color, the fruit is equally dark here with a focus on plums and black cherries. On the palate, the wine is rich, lush, round and full-bodied with a nice soft texture on the mid-palate and in the spicy, peppery, dark red berry and spice-filled finish. Mont Redon ages extremely well, so if you are not in a hurry, let it rest for 5-7 or more years. The wine averages 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and various assorted red grape varietals. Drink From 2026 – 2040. 92 Pts

2019 Mont Redon Blanc – White peach, grilled nuts, pineapple and citrus notes come through with ease on the nose. On the palate, the wine is forward, fresh and fruity, with a supple, fresh, juicy, palate presence. You can enjoy this on release. Drink From 2022 – 2029. 90 Pts

2019 Mont Thabor – Earthy savory, green leafy notes accompany the wild strawberry, kirsch and red apple nuances on the nose. Medium-bodied, fresh, soft and refined, the wine is elegant, vivacious and forward, with ample, spicy, bright, peppery red fruits in the finish. The wine was made from blending 80% Grenache with Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. Drink From 2022 – 2033. 91 Pts

2019 Mordoree Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee de la Reine des Bois – Dark in color, the nose pops easily with all of its dark red fruits, licorice, coffee bean, cocoa, and floral notes. Rich, lush, deep and expansive, there is an elegance to all of that power on the palate, which leaves you with layers of lushly textured, black and dark red berries. Give this a few years in the cellar to develop, soften and integrate and it should be ready to go. Drink From 2025 – 2037. 96 Pts

2019 Moulin Tacussel Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Your nose is greeted with a blast of green olives, peppery herbs, thyme, oregano, flowers and kirsch. Medium-bodied, fresh juicy and with a touch of citrus to accompany the peppery kirsch, this needs just a year or two before it really begins to show well. The wine was produced from mostly Grenache blended with various, assorted, AOC-allowed varietals. Drink From 2023 – 2035. 93 Pts

2019 Nalys Grand Vin – Elegant, silky, lush and ripe, the wine almost overflows with notes of flowers, spice, dark and bright red fruits, kirsch and a background note of smoke. There is depth, richness and vibrancy as well, giving you balance, layers of fruit and a silky, refined, energetic, rich finish. The wine blends 65% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 95 Pts

2019 Nalys Saintes Pierres – Medium-bodied, soft, fresh and floral, with a nice spicy character to the red fruits in the palate and in the finish, you can enjoy this on release. The wine is made from a Grenache-dominated blend with Mourvedre and various assorted allowable grape varieties. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 91 Pts

2019 Nalys Blanc – Tropical citrus fruits, flowers and spice with hints of orange peel create the nose. The wine is round, lush, fruity and fresh with a zesty, spicy, white peach and citrus finish. This is going to be delicious on release. Drink From 2022 – 2029. 92 Pts

2019 Nalys Saintes Pierres Blanc – Spicy orange rind is the first thing you notice before discovering all the fresh lemons, flowers and pomelo. Crisp, juicy and fresh, the lusciously textured citrus and white peach on the palate tastes and feels great. Drink From 2022 – 2026. 90 Pts

2019 Olivier Ravorie Caparacon – Floral in character, the wine is medium-bodied, spicy and fresh with a soft, elegant, silky texture and a forward approach, finishing with peppery, olives and cherries. The wine was produced using mostly old vine Grenache, with Mourvedre and Syrah to flesh out the blend. Drink From 2023 – 2033. 92 Pts

2019 Olivier Ravorie Caparacon Blanc – Dominated by Grenache Blanc, with Roussanne, Clairette, and Bourboulenc, the wine exudes flowers, crushed rocks, and yellow citrus peel. Medium-bodied, lush, and forward, you can enjoy this on release for all its sweet, ripe, fruits, and freshness. Drink From 2022 – 2027. 90 Pts
