In many ways, 2020 Lalande de Pomerol resembles 2020 Pomerol. The vintage is perfect for the appellation. The wines show a good depth of color. They are heavily perfumed, often displaying flowers, chocolate, dark red fruits, and truffle fragrances.
In most cases, the fruits are dark, deep, sweet, and fresh with soft, lush, and silky textures. They can be enjoyed young, yet the best wines could age for up to 2 decades. 2020 Lalande de Pomerol is well worth taking a serious look at. Part of the reason is, numerous growers have truly stepped up their game over the past few years. They are investing heavily in the vineyards and in their cellars.
The improvements are obvious, once you taste the wines. If you are a fan of Pomerol, and you have been priced out by some of your favorite estates, 2020 Lalande de Pomerol deserves your attention. In fact, I would not be surprised to see many, if not most of these wines score at the top of the range, once they are bottled and shipped.
