2019 Bordeaux Superieur wines are well-worth paying attention to. The wines are loaded with ripe, sweet, dark plums, black cherries, licorice and chocolate. Round, lusciously textured, sweet and filled with fruit these are pleasure in a glass wines. And do not forget, they drink well early too, so you do not have to hold them for years, waiting for them to age and mature.

And the best part of 2019 Bordeaux Superieur wines is that almost every one of them sells for a song. You can easily purchase these by the case and enjoy most of them on release. Most of these wines are priced at less $20 per bottle! Hedonistic, Right Bank Bordeaux wine lovers seeking good wine at bargain prices should pay close attention to the wines in this report.

I love 2019 Bordeaux Superieur wines. When Merlot grapes are able to ripen, which is what happened with 2019 Bordeaux, the wines offer some of the best value priced drinking in the entire region. Because many of these wines are produced in reasonable quantities, they should be easy to find, either now, on when they are released into the market.

The best 2019 Bordeaux Superieur wines in this report were all tasted starting in mid-May until about mid-June in the comfort of my home office in non-blind conditions.

2019 Balthus – Chocolate mint is the first thing you notice before moving to flowers, licorice, plums, cherries and smoky aromatics. Round, lush, generous, hedonistic and full-bodied, wait a couple of years and this will be quite nice to imbibe. The wine is produced from a specific parcel selection of 100% old vine Merlot. 91-93 Pts

2019 Bolaire – With close to 60% old vine Petit Verdot in the blend, the wine is quite dark in the glass. Lush, round, fleshy and juicy, this fruit-filled, full-bodied, richly textured wine is unique for Bordeaux and well-worth experiencing. 89-91 Pts

2019 Bouscat Belle-Annie – The newest offering from Domaine du Bouscat is sweet, round, lush and forward with a fruity character, early-drinking charm and loads of black raspberry, vanilla and espresso on the nose and palate. 89-91 Pts

2019 Bouscat Caduce – Cinnamon, 5 spice, barbecue and earthy, ripe, red, sweet fruits with soft textures and loads of juicy red fruits, coffee bean and licorice in the fruity finish. 90-92 Pts

2019 Bouscat Cuvee la Gargone – Deeply colored, the licorice, smoke, dark red fruits, vanilla and coffee bean get the nose going. Opulent, rich, fat, jammy and juicy, with enough fruit to make a pie, this is already so much fun to taste. 91-93 Pts

2019 Bouscat Les Portes de L’Am – Inky in color, jam, smoke, blackberry, plum liqueur and licorice are in your face. Dense, rich and fat, the fruit coats your palate with layers of black and blue fruit that does not quit. Sweet, and a bit blueberry pie-ish, but in a good way, this wine really shows what a dedicated producer can create in less exalted terroirs. The wine is a Jeffrey Davies Selection Exclusive. 91-93 Pts

2019 Croix Mouton – Already accessible, this delicious, medium-bodied crowd-pleaser is going to be great on release. All its soft, round, fruity, earthy, ripe fruits surrounded by licorice, smoke, cocoa with light floral notes will be just perfect for near-term drinking. It is hard to find a better Bordeaux value wine these days. 88-90 Pts

2019 Croix Mouton 20 Mille – Deeply-colored, with layers of dark cocoa and cherries in every sniff and sip, the wine has concentration, round textures and a dark, fruity finish. The wine was produced from 100% old vine Merlot. 89-91 Pts

2019 De La Cour D’Argent – Sweet, fresh, juicy, dark red fruits, jam, licorice and violets smell just great. Forward, round and fruity with loads of chocolate covered plums and raspberries in the finish, this will be fun to drink with just a year or two in the cellar. 89-91 Pts

2019 Du Bois Chantant – Medium-bodied, fresh, bright, soft-textured, forward wine focused on sweet, ripe red fruits and licorice for early drinking. 88-90 Pts

2019 Du Bois Chantant Cuvée Laurence – A nice, juicy, fruit-filled blast of chocolate-covered cherries, plums and licorice. Round in texture, this is already showing its plushly textured essence. 90-92 Pts

2019 Fleur Haut Gaussens – Round, soft, forward, supple textured, dark cherry filled wine that offers a lot of bang for the buck. Drink this ripe, fruity wine on the young side. 86-88 Pts

2019 Gree Laroque – Medium-bodied, soft, round and open, with loads of ripe juicy black cherries and dark cocoa that really hits the spot. Drink this young, or age it a few years. 88-90 Pts

2019 La Laurence – Medium-bodied, early-drinking, red cherry-filled, soft wine that will be best in its youth. 86-88 Pts

2019 La Laurence Petite Laurence – Floral, with bright yellow fruits, pears and a lemon chiffon filled palate. Fresh, sweet and easy-going white Bordeaux wine. 88 Pts

2019 Le Conseiller – Medium-bodied, soft and approachable, this 100% old vine Merlot serves up a blast of cherries, plums and licorice with a dab of smoke and espresso in the finish. It is difficult to find better wine in the price range on the planet. 87-89 Pts

2019 Le Pin Beausoleil – This lusciously textured wine is loaded with creamy, dark red fruits with, soft, polished tannins. The wine finishes with a juicy, fruity mid-palate and endnote. All that, and it sells for a song. This is a solid Bordeaux-value wine that will drink well on release and for at least a decade or so. 90-92 Pts

2019 l’Isle Fort – Soft-textured, medium-bodied, forward and filled with sweet ripe cherries, fresh-picked flowers and lifted red fruits in the finish. 89-91 Pts

2019 Madran – Medium-bodied, soft, fresh and forward, with soft-textured, juicy red fruits and cocoa in the finish. You can enjoy this on release. 88-90 Pts

2019 Madran Cuvée Prestige – Forward, lush, round and fruity, with an easy-to-like, early-drinking charm, this will be fine to enjoy on release. 88-90 Pts

2019 Penin Les Cailloux – Medium-bodied, soft, forward and approachable, the wine is fruity, easy to taste and ends with a soft, short and sweet black cherry note. 86-88 Pts

2019 Peyfaures – Medium-bodied, soft, fresh, forward and focused on its sweet red fruits with a nice hint of salt in the finish, you can drink this on release. 86-88 Pts

2019 Peyfaures Bordeaux Supérieur Dame de Coeur – Dark ruby in color, with a nice floral, licorice and plum filled perfume. On the palate, the wine has lift, freshness and an olive tinged bright red fruit finish. Give this a year or two in the cellar and it should quite fun to drink. 89-91 Pts

2019 Pey-La-Tour Reserve du Chateau – Forward, medium-bodied, fresh and juicy, with stony, ripe, sweet cherries, licorice and espresso to finish it all off. 89-91 Pts

2019 Reignac – Rich and plumy, round and sweet with layers of fleshy, juicy plums, chocolate, licorice and smoke from start to finish. 90-92 Pts

2019 Sainte Barbe – Cherry filled, medium-bodied, ripe, round, forward open wine for early drinking pleasure. 85-87 Pts

2019 Sainte Marie Vieilles Vignes – Medium-bodied, forward, bright and fresh with an earthy herbal, leafy nuance to the red berry finish for early drinking. 85-87 Pts
