2022 Mangot – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Lush, fruity, chalky, and polished, the wine quickly delivers its core of ripe, chocolatey-covered dark pit fruits with just a swirl, sniff, and sip. The salty end note adds complexity to the lingering finish. Drink from 2026-2042. 93 Pts
2022 Mangot Todeschini Distique 15 – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Chocolate, espresso, and smoky, dark red berries create the aromatics. The wine is Round, polished, and lush on the fruit-filled palate. You can enjoy this young, for all of its up-front, fruity flavors, as well as age it for more complexities. The wine is aged without new oak barrels in a combination of amphora and foudres. 2022 Mauvinon – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Quite flowery in the nose, with a nice, albeit light touch of sweet, ripe, cherries, black raspberries. and plums with just a hint of a salty edge in the finish that allows the wine to linger. Drink from 2025-2037. 90 Pts
2022 Mazerat – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Sporting a new, quite stylish label, and a new moniker, Mazerat, the wine pops with its salty-edged, fruit, before the espresso, mint, plums and cocoa kick in. The wine blends 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2027-2045. 94 Pts
2022 Milens – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Flowers, and fruit blend perfectly here. Add a touch of chocolate, licorice, and orange rind to the medium-bodied palate, and you come up with a perfectly charming wine that is going to drink great, right out of the gate. Drink from 2025-2038. 92 Pts
2022 Millery – St. Émilion Grand Cru – The creamy palate, with its layers of ripe, deep, silky fruits, vibrancy, and polish, is what this wine is all about. In this vintage, there is a lifted, supple character that allows the sweet, red fruits to glide easily across your palate before you experience its lingering finish. This is a wine to look out for as it is owned and produced by the same team that owns and produces Chateau Figeac, and clearly, this is a wine on the upswing. 2022 Monbousquet – St. Émilion Grand Cru – From the get-go, this opulent gem pops from the glass with layers of smoky, black, with red fruits. The creamy finish hits all the right notes on its way in and on the way out. 2022 marks the 30th vintage of Monbousquet under the ownership of the Perse family. The wine blends 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2025-2042. 95 Pts
2022 Mondou – St. Émilion Grand Cru – The wine is almost as big as the bottle, which is large, and oversized. Rich, opulent, and fleshy, there is a polish to the tannins coupled with a lushness that leaves an impression on the palate. I like the touch of spice, and citrus that pops in at the back of the finish. This is a new wine that comes from vines planted close to Chateau Monbousquet. Drink from 2026-2040. 93 Pts

Stylistically, this is lush and creamy, with loads of supple, creamy, ripe, sweet, delicious from start to finish This is a property that has been on the upswing over the past few vintages. 2022 Montlabert – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Medium-bodied, elegant, fresh, and vibrant from the get-go, the silky-textured wine offers lift and energy to its layers of ripe, red with black pit fruits, licorice, and cocoa in the mid-palate, and finish. 2022 Moulin Saint Georges – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Espresso, incense, flowers, and smoky red fruits pop in the nose. The silky, lifted, elegant, medium-bodied palate is fresh, creamy, long, and refined. While this can be enjoyed young, it will age quite well for more complexity. 2022 Moulin du Cadet – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Chocolate, licorice, and espresso-topped plum aromatics show without much effort. Lush, plush, and polished on the palate, the wine is soft, creamy, and fresh, finishing with layers of black-fruit blended with chocolate. Drink from 2026-2040. 94 Pts
2022 Muse du Val – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Dark chocolate, with a bouquet of flowers is what initially grabs your attention. From there, it is the fruity, juicy, rounded palate, with its sweet, ripe, black with red fruits, and cocoa that seals the deal. 2022 Pas de l’Ane – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Flowers, and cherries fill the perfume, and the medium-bodied, elegant, polished and fresh palate. I really like the red pit fruit in the finish, as it lingers. Drink from 2025-2038. 91 Pts
2022 Patris Querre – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Smoke, licorice, wet earth, and plums load the perfume. On the palate, the wine is round, and fruity, with a strong, savory, chalky edge in the finish. Drink from 2025-2037. 88 Pts
2022 Pavie – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Deep, dark, intense, concentrated, powerful, long, and rich, this is an attention-seeking wine from the moment it hits your glass, with its opaque, black-purple hue. With just a swirl or two, the wine releases notes of black, red, and blue fruits, licorice, espresso, chocolate, and smoke. Surprisingly, even with this much weight, the wine is nimble, balanced, and fresh on the palate. That sense of lift remains from the mid-palate through to the finish. This is the first vintage where you find the vines from Bellevue Mondotte, and Pavie Decesse integrated into Chateau Pavie. The wine blends 52% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc with 18% Cabernet Sauvignon. 2022 Pavie Aromes de Pavie – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Already charming to drink, the wine pops with its notes of flowers, spice, licorice, mint, and red berries with touches of chocolate in the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, forward, and creamy, with ample, sweet, ripe, lifted fruits in the finish. Aromes de Pavie is no longer the second wine of Pavie because all of the fruit emanates from a specific 11-hectare parcel, so it should be looked at as its own brand. 2022 Pavie Macquin – St. Émilion Grand Cru – The striking perfume, with its showy display of cherry blossoms, licorice, black fruits, dark cherries, orange rind, and cigar wrappers sets the tone for the wine. On the palate, it is the opulent, silky fruits with their purity, length, freshness, and seamless finish, with the silky-textured palate presence that steals the show. 2022 Petit Gravet Aine – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Flowers, mint, charcoal, chalk, sea salt, and red fruits combine to offer an intense, spicy, fruit-packed experience with layers of energetic berries that are as elegant, as they are long, sweet, vibrant, and pure. 2022 Sanctus – St. Émilion Grand Cru – The newly renamed vineyard, which still remains a bit confusing to me is lush, polished, rich, ripe, and fleshy. The fruits are sweet, long, and creamy, finishing with layers of plums, black cherries, vanilla, and cocoa that linger with lift, finesse, and freshness. The wine comes from vines on the slopes of their vineyard and is produced blending 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2026-2042. 94 Pts
2022 Sansonnet – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Opulence is the name of the game here. The wine is deep, and rich, with layers of juicy, sweet, luscious, black plums, and cherries. There is intensity, depth of flavor, weight, and body, balanced with ample lift, so the wine feels fresh, and alive on your palate. The long, expansive finish keeps on going with its layers of mineral-tinted, fruits, chocolate, and sexy textures that coat your palate again, and again. 2022 Simard – St. Émilion – Medium-bodied fresh, and floral, the fruits are almost, but, not quite high-toned, finishing with vibrant, red pit fruits and a nuance of spice. Give this just a year or so of cellaring, and enjoy it for 12 or more years. Drink from 2026-2037. 91 Pts
2022 Sol Beni – St. Émilion Grand Cru – This is quite oaky in nature. Packed with espresso. burnt wood, dark chocolate, and drying tannins, this might be better with bottle age, but I am not sure it is ever going to integrate. Drink from 2025-2038. 88 Pts
2022 Soutard – St. Émilion Grand Cru – I love the flowers, spice, licorice, and roasted fruits that open the perfume. On the palate, the wine is refined, supple, lively, and creamy with a gorgeous sweetness, as well as a finish packed with layers of chocolate-covered black cherries and plums. This could be the finest vintage of Soutard ever produced! 76% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% whole-bunch, fermented Malbec make the blend. Drink from 2026-2047. 95 Pts
2022 SoutardCadet – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Clearly, the wine is on the hedonistic side with its non-stop layers of chocolate, licorice, mint, black plums, and black cherries. Full-bodied, and intense, yet, the wine is never heavy. 2022 Trapaud – St. Émilion Grand Cru – The strong floral, and tobacco notes in the perfume spring from the blend of 60% Cabernet Franc with 40% Merlot. Medium-bodied, soft, and approachable, the finish is a bit light, but fresh, and plummy with a lot of lift, and spicy herbs in the finish. Drink from 2025-2037. 90 Pts
2022 Trianon – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Charming, soft, and polished with a character coming from its floral bouquet on the nose, and its center of silky with a core of sweet, red pit fruits with chocolate in the finish. 2025-2037. 90 Pts
2022 Troplong Mondot – St. Émilion Grand Cru – Deeply colored, the wine is rich, deep, full-bodied, concentrated, and vibrant. The depth of flavor, paired with the wine’s creamy texture, leaves you with with depth and width on the palate. The lingering finish displays sweet, red and black fruits, salt-tinted oranges, and a sensation of chalk on the backend. The wine blends 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. 2022 Trotte Vieille – St. Émilion Grand Cru – The florality in the perfume, with its accents of mint, licorice, spice, and oceanic touches, is striking. The palate is silky, vibrant, and plush. There is length, complexity, opulence, balance, and a strong sensation of crushed stones, blackberries, chocolate, and plums in the finish you can taste and feel. 2022 marks the first time the estate included Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. 2022 Valandraud – St. Émilion Grand Cru – The showy nose delivers its array of licorice, camphor, incense, espresso, blackberries, and blueberries effortlessly. The wine is rich, creamy, and frankly luxurious as it caresses your palate with waves of smooth, polished, velvety fruits. And, even with all this concentration, density, and intensity, the wine has enough lift, and freshness to feel almost light on its feet!
