Handicapping 2022 Lalande de Pomerol isn’t an easy task. The vineyards can vary widely in their terroir, and the ability to perform in hot, dry vintages. However, the best estates were able to produce beautiful wines that compete with many of the more expensive wines from their neighboring appellation, Pomerol. 2022 Bertineau Saint-Vincent – Lalande de Pomerol – Flowers, black raspberries, and sweet cherries are impossible to miss here. Medium-bodied, forward, and energetic, the wine ends with a creamy, cherry, and black raspberry note, with a hint of cocoa that hangs with you. This wine is ready to go on release. 2022 Canon Chaigneau – Lalande de Pomerol – This is quite floral in the nose. Medium-bodied, soft, supple, fresh, and vibrant on the palate, the wine finishes with sweet, ripe cherries, strawberries, and a lifted note of orange rind with a tint of cocoa on the backend of the polished finish. 2022 Canon Chaigneau Cuve 1a Cabernet Franc – Lalande de Pomerol – Tobacco leaves, cherry blossoms, cedar, fennel, and red plums fill the wines perfume. The palate, with its fruity, chocolate-coated plums, black cherries and black raspberries in the mid-palate and in the lush, creamy finish is already a pleasure in your glass. 2022 Haut-Chaigneau – Lalande de Pomerol – Black cherries licorice and chocolate, with a minty endnote really works here. There are loads of sweet, ripe, pit fruits, and just the right amount of chocolate, with a background note of espresso, to keep everything going in all the right, directions here. This is the best vintage of Haut-Chaigneau I have ever tasted. This should be ready to go on with a just a year or so of aging. Drink from 2026-2038. 92 Pts

2022 La Fleur de Bouard – Lalande de Pomerol – Supple, and creamy, the wine deftly handles all of its chocolate-covered plums, licorice, espresso, and touch of spice, deftly, ending with a polished, lusciously-textured finish. 2022 La Fleur de Bouard Le Plus – Lalande de Pomerol – Darker and with more body, and depth than the regular offering, here, you find layers of rich, black cherries, dark chocolate, and a plushness to the finish that would make anyone confuse this with a very good, hedonistic, sexy Pomerol. 2022 Les Cruzelles – Lalande de Pomerol – If you are seeking a fabulous Pomerol at a fair price, look no further. This gem rocks with the textures, concentration, and complexity of Pomerol. Chocolate-covered flowers, black raspberries, and plums, with a spicy note fill the perfume. The palate is where the action is, due to all of its multiple layers of, opulently-textured fruits. 2022 Les Cruzelles La Chenade – Lalande de Pomerol – Flowers, cherries, cocoa, and licorice form the perfume here. The palate is even better with its soft, silky, and fresh black raspberries accompanied by just a hint of chocolate in the finish. 2022 Sabines – Lalande de Pomerol – Showing much better from the bottle, than it did from the barrel, (Always a good sign) the wine kicks off with licorice, espresso, cocoa, and dark, pit fruits. 2022 Siaurac – Lalande de Pomerol – Even better in the bottle, than it showed in its barrel tasting, the wine is supple, creamy, lush, and loaded with ripe, sweet, fresh, and creamy, plums, black cherries, and dark chocolate, with a refreshing hint of spicy, mint on the backend, from the Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. 2022 Tournefeuille – Lalande de Pomerol – Notes of cherries, licorice, and flowers are all over the place here. The wine is vibrant, soft, silky, and creamy, with more of those sweet, ripe, pit fruits, with a dash of chocolate that comes in at the end. There is a lot to like here with this Pomerol look-alike.
