All of the following 2022 Haut Medoc, Listrac, and Moulis wines were tasted in non blind conditions in my office in early 2025.
2022 Agassac – Haut-Médoc – Currants, orange spice, flowers, and cigar wrapper scents kick the wine off. The medium-bodied, blackberry palate has a softness to the tannins, and ample fruit in the round finish. Drink from 2025-2038. 91 Pts
2022 Anthonic – Moulis en Médoc – Round, lush, forward, and floral, the wine is perfect for early-drinking pleasure, delivering loads of sweet, ripe, red, with black currants along the way. Drink from 205-2035. 90 Pts
2022 Arnauld – Haut-Médoc – Tobacco leaf, flowers, smoke, and salty red fruits pop in the nose. The energetic palate is loaded with sweet, soft, ripe currants with a dollop of chocolate in the finish. I do not think I have tasted a better vintage here. Drink from 2026-2038. 91 Pts
2022 Barreyres – Haut-Médoc – Vibrant, fresh, medium-bodied wine with a core of tobacco-tinted, sweet red fruits, with a tiny hint of cocoa on the back end. 2022 Beau Secret – Haut-Médoc – Opening with a discreet nose, the wine is medium-bodied, not very complex, but certainly acceptable for early-drinking, red-berry-packed pleasure. Drink from 2025-2032. 85 Pts
2022 Beaumont – Haut-Médoc – Flowers, with black, and red currants pop with little effort in the nose. The medium-bodied palate is soft, fresh, and fruity with the perfect hint of peppery cocoa in the finish! The wine blends 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. 2022 Belgrave – Haut-Médoc – There is a lot to like here starting with an espresso, black currants, chocolate, and cedar packed perfume. 2022 Belle-Vue – Haut-Médoc – Black fruits, with flowers are the opening notes of this wine. Soft, round, and approachable, the black, with red fruits, with their chocolate topping already tastes delicious today! 2022 Beychevelle Les Brulieres de Beychevelle – Haut-Médoc – A touch of oak remains, but that doesn’t stop the flowers and fruit from shining through in the nose and palate. This is going to be delicious on release. The wine is produced from 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 40% Merlot. Drink from 205-2037. 90 Pts
2022 Biston-Brillette – Moulis en Médoc – A touch of oak, cocoa, red fruits form the perfume. The medium-bodied palate continues that theme with an oaky edge to light, fresh, red fruits in the finish. This can be enjoyed over the next decade. Drink from 2025-2035. 90 Pts
2022 Branas-Grand-Poujeaux – Moulis en Médoc – Tobacco leaf, cedar, cigar wrappers, and espresso escort the blackberries and currants on your palate. Creamy, vibrant and lively, there is superb, lift and energy here, along with loads of fruit. finishing with a dollop of dark chocolate in the endnote. Soft, fresh, and polished, here you find layers of ripe, black cherries, and spice that already show well in this earthy, medium-bodied, vibrant, chewy wine. 2022 Du Mont – Haut-Médoc – Dark chocolate, tobacco, and dark red berries pop in the nose. The medium-bodied is loaded with vibrant, sweet, black cherries that are already quite expressive, and ready to go on release. 2022 Dutruch Grand Poujeaux – Moulis en Médoc – Showing much better from the bottle, than it did from the bottle, the wine jumps in the nose with its nots of cigar wrapper, currants, spice, and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, vibrant, sweet, and chalky, with high-toned fruits, and a hint of tobacco leaf with cocoa in the finish. 2022 Fourcas Hosten – Listrac-Médoc – Flowers, and black with red fruits get the wine started. But, it is the medium-bodied, lifted, palate, with its zest, hit of orange rind, and peppery spice that make this sing. This is a superb value play for Left-Bank Cabernet Sauvignon. 2022 Giscours Haut-Medoc – Haut-Médoc – The aging has added a lot here. The perfume, with its flowery edge brings you to layers of sweet, ripe, lush, round, black with red fruits that hang in there with just a hint of chocolate in the finish. 2022 Madame de Beaucaillou – Haut-Médoc – Dark black fruits and flowers shine in the perfume. The palate shows off its sweet, black cherries, blackberries, and chocolate with just a swirl. Drink this on release, or age it for more complexity. If I owned it, I would be popping a cork on release. The wine blends 66% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. 14.5% ABV. 2022 Vieux Moulin – Listrac-Médoc – Initially herbs with a complicating tobacco edge show in the nose before the wine quickly moves to its medium-bodied, core of sweet, red fruits. Not overly complicated, but, certainly pleasant, and charming on the palate. Drink from 2025-2034. 90 Pts
2022 Villegeorge – Haut-Médoc – Black currants, and leafy herbs, with tobacco accents create the core here. On the palate, the wine is sweet, juicy, and fresh, with loads of blackberries, and dark chocolate in every sniff, and sip.
