2023 Medoc Bordeaux Tasting Notes
2023 Beauvillage – Médoc – Medium-bodied, soft, supple, fresh, fruity, and creamy, with a core of ripe, sweet, black cherries, licorice, and cocoa, this is a delicious, early-drinking charmer. Drink from 2026-2036.
2023 Bellerive – Médoc – Medium-bodied, with a core of black currants, smoke, cherries, and herbs is going to provide early, drinking, mildly rustic pleasure on release. Drink from 2026-2034. 86-88 Pts
2023 Clarendelle Médoc – Médoc – Tobacco leaves, and bright red fruits form the core of this wine. It is soft, forward, fruity, medium-bodied, and ready to go on release. For ordering in an easy restaurant, this is a nice choice. Drink from 2026-2032. 89-91 Pts.
2023 Clos Manou – Médoc – Espresso, black cherries, blackberries, licorice, and tobacco form the core of the wine in the nose, and on the palate, with layers of cherries, and currants in the supple, fresh finish. While this is easy to enjoy in its youth, with age, this is going to be even better. Drink from 2026-2038. 90-92 Pts.
2023 Escot – Médoc – Medium-bodied, with a bright, chewy, red fruits, crisp tannins, herbs, spice, and a classically-styled finish. touch of oak that adds roundness to the bright, red fruits in the nose and palate, giving the wine an early-drinking, already approachable character. Drink from 2026-2033.
2023 Fleur La Mothe – Médoc – Medium-bodied, lush, and creamy, the wine is packed with flowers, cedar, tobacco, and black currants. The fruit is ripe, sweet, round, fresh, and polished. Drink from 2024-2037. 91-93 Pts.
2023 GdEstournel – Médoc – Blackberries, black cherries, chocolate, and licorice pop effortlessly. The medium-bodied palate is easy-to-like, forward, fresh, and mildly chalky, with a fun, peppery accent in the finish. This is the first vintage to include their new parcels, bringing the vineyard to 24 hectares of vines. You can enjoy this on release. The wine blends 64% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2026-2034. 89-91 Pts.
2023 Greysac – Médoc – Forward, medium-bodied and accessible, on release this will offer its red with black pit fruit charm with ease. Soft, forward and ready to go. Drink from 2026-2033. 89-91 Pts.
2023 Haut Condissas Prestige – Médoc – Black cherries, licorice, espresso, along with spring flowers are readily available in this forward, fruity, creamy, soft-textured, fruity wine, with tis espresso, and chocolate finish. This is perfect for enjoyment as soon as it hits the stores, and for at least a decade after that. Drink from 2026-2036. 89-91 Pts
2023 La Branne – Médoc – Round, fresh, and fruity with load of ripe, chewy, black currants, mint, and peppery spice, this is going to provide delicious drinking on release, and it sells for a song! Drink from 2026-2035. 88-90 Pts.
2023 La Chandellière – Médoc – Chocolatey, red fruits with a chalky note on the mid-palate and in the blackberry finish. This will be just great on release and over the next decade. Drink from 202-2035. 88-90 Pts
2023 La-Tour-de-By – Médoc – Fresh, and fruity, round, and creamy, the wine pops with loads of ripe, dark, sweet, cherries, plums and blackberries on the palate, that continue through to the creamy, licorice, and black cherry packed finish. Drink from 2026-2036. 90-92 Pts.
2023 La Tour de By Heritage Marc Pages – Médoc – Medium-bodied, fresh, juicy, and with accents of espresso, licorice, and flowers to accompany the red, with black currants, the wine finishes fresh and fruity. Drink from 2027-2028. 90-92 Pts
2023 Laujac – Médoc – Flowers, citrus, red currants, and spice fill the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh , crisp, firm, and vibrant with a bright, red berry finish. This will be at its best over the near term future. Drink from 2026-2034. 88-90 Pts.
2023 Les Grands Chenes – Médoc – Smoky red fruits flowers, tobacco, and cherries with hints licorice fill the nose. On the palate, the wine is fresh, fruity, and clean, with more focus than in previous vintages due to a reduction in the amount of oak used in the aging process. 60% Merlot, with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2026-2038. 90-92 Pts.
2023 Loudenne – Médoc – Tobacco, cedar, and currants form the character here in this fruity, dark, chewy, and slightly oaky, so give it some time to age, and it will be a delicious, value-priced, Left Bank Bordeaux wine filled with juicy, sweet, black currants. Drink from 2026-2038. 89-91 Pts.
2023 Lousteauneuf – Médoc – Loads of ripe fresh, chewy, red fruits, licorice, spice, and tobacco leaf with a savory edge, and a chalky finish. Give it a year or two in the bottle, and enjoy it for a decade or so, after that. Drink from 2026-2036. 88-90 Pts.
2023 Noaillac – Médoc – Located in the far north of the appellation, this early-drinking charmer is loaded with supple, round, cherries, cocoa, and leafy herbs. Medium-bodied, forward, fruity and read to drink, this is going to be charming on release. Drink from 2026-2036. 89-91 Pts.
2023 Poitevin – Médoc – Leafy herbs, tobacco leaf, cedar, and red currants comes through easily in the nose, and on the palate. Medium-bodied, forward, bright, and crisp, you can enjoy this on the young side. Drink from 2026-2036. 89-91 Pts.
2023 Potensac – Médoc – Medium-bodied, with a floral edge to the red with black currants, tobacco, and savory herbs round out the character here, The wine is bright, sweet, savory, and crisp, in its chewy finish. The wine was produced from blending 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 17% Cabernet Franc.13.4% ABV. Drink from 2027-2045. 91-93 Pts.
2023 Preuillac – Médoc – Flowers, tobacco cedar, and black currants already express their character in this sweet, ripe, juicy currant filled, chewy wine. This is another example of a solid, Bordeaux value wine that consumers looking for deals should take a look at. Drink from 2027-2037. 90-92 Pts.
2023 Villa Carmin – Médoc – Medium-bodied, fresh, fruity, vibrant, and forward, the wine is going to be delicious on release with its layers of black cherries, plums, chocolate, and licorice. Drink from 2026-2036. 90-92 Pts.
